I'm really glad he's still in with the big boys writing Spy novels. What excitement to be working on a Tom Clancy project! :)

It's wonderful news. I hope he does continue to do these books then, even with the reason given as to the pseudonym. It definitely sounds like quite a book too. "If you liked my Bond..." :)

Very glad to see more books from him, I'll be checking this one out.

It's being discussed in these frums before, but the idea behind using the "David Micheals" pseudonym as a banket name for all authors is one that IFP maybe should employ for any future (if ever :) ) continuation novels.

I knew that Clancy was going to publish a Splinter Cell book at some point, but I never thought that Benson would write it! To good to be true! I can't wait. But when does it come out?

I think the official release date is Dec 4, but it's shipping now from Amazon.com. I got my copy yesterday. :)

Cool. While I've never been a huge Clancy fan I might give this book a spin.

Apples and oranges demographics-wise, but it will be very interesting to see how the sales stack up against the "Young Bond" novels. Not to mention, how will it stack up against his own Bond novels. The latter were so poorly marketed, and Raymond was getting much better before IFP took his legs out from under him; I wouldn't be suprised to see this project trounce them all.

I'll definitely be getting this. Anything by Benson is well worth reading. Plus I read most of the Tom Clancy series' anyway and I've been waiing for a Splinter Cell novel since the game first came out.

I saw this at Wal-Mart today and they had a ton of copies. The acknowledgement page thanked Benson for his work on the book. Hopefully so many copies and attention will get Benson some notice. It's just amazing I've never seen this many copies of a Bond novel anywhere.

Splinter Cell is quite a big name though. And I'm more inclined to think that people will notice a Splinter Cell novel on the shelves more than a James Bond one.

That's not too surprising when you look at the very little publicity that that Raymond Benson James Bond novels received. The Man With The Red Tattoo for example, had next to none at all.

It's a shame he didn't just write it under his own name, he'd get more recognition.

I just finished it, it's not the best but I'd still suggest anyone who is a fan of the games to pick it up. Likewise to Benson fans, I agree with him that it seems like one of his Bond novels.

Ah, you've read it already! :)

It looks so, about the same amount as a Bond book, which is fine with me. :)

Indeed - I read it in 3 days, two of which were school days.

I wouldn't call it a spy thriller really, but if you go into it looking for a good time, you won't be disappointed.

Splinter Cell definitely has the cool factor down.

Pick up Rainbow Six or Without Remorse sometime if you're interested. They're long but they're two of my favorite books.

Well I found out the good news today...Raymond is also selling signed copies on his website for $9 (plus shipping to where ever you may be). I'm very happy about that, as I'd much rather buy it through him, get a signed copy, than to buy a copy off Amazon, whose likely price would be a lot higher than a copy direct from Raymond! :)
