Every so often on The Simpsons, there's a very familiar sofa joke.

Bond like music plays, accompanied by the traditional Bond gunbarrel opening, and then Homer walks on to the screen and shoots, causing the gunbarrel to turn red, except they fall to the floor with a thump rather than moving from side to side.

I've noticed this in two episodes: The Springfield Connection and Maggie Makes Three. Are there any more?

Did anybody else ever see this episode of the Simpsons? Simply hilarious! Here are some quotes:

Hank: Ingenious, isn't it, Mr. Bond?
Bond: Scorpio, you're totally mad.
Hank: Heh, I wouldn't point fingers, you jerk.
Bond: So, do you expect me to talk?
Hank: I don't expect anything from you except to die and be a very cheap funeral. [leaves] You're gonna die, now.
[But Bond has an ace up his sleave, and uses a
quarter to deflect the laser to his chains. A shot of sleeping gas
towards the guards, and he's off to the exit.]

Hank: Stop him! He's supposed to die! [Homer jumps on Bond who was running past him] Nice work, Homer! Am I proud of you.
Homer: [shy] Well...
Hank: When you go home tonight, there's gonna be another story on your house. [they both walk off] Thank you. [guards shoot Bond off-screen]

Hank: By the way, Homer, what's your least favorite country: Italy or
France?
Homer: France.
Hank: [chuckles] Nobody ever says Italy. [sets the coordinates of a
giant laser gun]

Just think of it as Leatherface meets Cronkite.

That's my favorite episode ever - even my non-Bond-fan friends agree that it's the best episode ever.

That episode is wonderfull! Did you hear the bondisch song at the end?
It was called 'Scorpio' I believe...
Also the invasion of the army on Scorpio's base is great and very YOLT!

Has anyone seen the homer simpson gunbarrel at the beginning of an episode? (can't remember which one)
How the hell do we get those diamonds down again?

Yeah I've seen the gunbarrel intro once. I believe I read in one of my simpsons books that it was before the episode when marge became a police officer.

The "Scorpio" song is on the The Simpsons "Songs in the Key of Springfield" CD. It's hysterical. Somewhere on the wild, wild, web there is a Simpson fan site which has a complete list of every Bond reference made throughout the 300+ episodes.

If I can remember which one of my friends sent me the link, I'll post it.

The Simpsons is still the best writing on TV!

This is probably my favourite Bond/Simpsons scene, along with the cut scene of Bond and an Evil Doctor Cheese/Blofeld lookalike playing cards at the casino in the "$pringfield" episode:

EDC/Blofeld: 20. Your move, Mr. Bond.

Bond (with heavy Connery accent): I'll take a hit, dealer. [Homer draws card] Joker? You were shupposed to take those out of the deck.

Homer: Oh, sorry. Here's another.

Bond: What's this card? "Rulesh For Draw and Shtud Poker"?

EDC/Blofeld: What a pity, Mr. Bond. [Oddjob and Jaws drag Bond out]

Bond: But...no! It's Homer'sh fault! I didn't lose! I never lose! Well, at least tell me the details of your plot for world domination.

EDC/Blofeld: Ho ho ho. I'm not falling for that one again.

Just read in a German paper some news on the Simpsons... next weekend a new episode is going to air in which Homer & Co. visit London. The special thing about it was that Tony Blair is going to dub himself! But what I discovered is far more interesting. There were some screenshots...:

Bond parody anone? :):)

Other, non-Bond related screenshots...

Hope this episode will air in Germany soon. This has to be great! :):)

lol Very good, Tim. Don't have Sky so I probably won't get to see it or years. Especially since there's some battle going on between BBC2 and Channel 4 over the rights.

The Simpsons is running out of steam and I can't really see it going on for much longer. Sure, everyone goes on about how great it is but when you compare it with other comedies, there is better stuff out there.

I've seen the episode. It wasn't as good as it other parodies of Bond, "You only move twice" - is and always will be my favorite. It had it's amusing nods to our favorite fictional character: Blair exiting the airport on a jet pack, Marge and Homer riding a contraption that resembles Stromberg's Lair. Nevertheless, I think the best part of that show was where Homer makes an agreement with Queen Elizabeth to take Madonna back to America.

I rather think Tony's jet pack had nothing to do with Bond, but was just making fun of nutty Englishmen who use jet packs. Or perhaps it parodies the extensive use of conveyor belts in aeroports which are for the lazy....

Remember when Pierce was on one of the Simpson's Halloween Eppisode?

Choosing The Ultra House Personality...

Bart: Hey, How about 007?
Marge: George Lazenby?
Lisa: No, Pierce Brosnan. A voice like his would give our house a much needed touch of class.
Marge: Alright, but I'm doing this because he was Remington Steele... he was Remington Steele, wasn't he?
Brosnan Voice: Yes I was Marge. And thank you for selecting me.
Marge: Well hello, Pierce.
*sniffing noises*
Brosnan Voice: Say, it's a bit stuffy in here and I know a certain someone who really fancies Lilac.
Bart: I just like it is all.
*spritz noise*
All: Mmmm!
Marge: That really covers the cat crap.

Hmmmm....Yes a fine episode which I have in my library. The Lazenby line always cracked me up.

I think Athena wants the "Ultra House" with an automated Pierce bidding her on.

*Pierce Voice*

No offense Zencat...I just couldn't resist. :)

Terrific episode. It's available on DVD here, but I'm slowly collecting the season-by-season releases.

But for Bond/Simpsons connections, you can't go past You Only Move Twice. Top episode. Recently aired here as part of The All-Time Greatest Simpsons.

Speaking of cartoon Bond references: I was watching an episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force the other night where the three lead characters were in a trivia contest at a local bar and at some point you catch a glimpse of their answer sheet. At the very bottom of the sheet you see something scratched out and George Lazenby written next to it.

I'm pathetic.

Anywho... Over on Univex there's a great Simpsons/JamesBond Connection bit. Check it out. They have the "You Only Move Twice" epp info and all the other Simsons Bond reference epps. Plus some screen caps and 2 MP3s :)

Even a little summery of the Epp I quoted at the start of this thread...
Episode: Treehouse of Horror XII
In the Treehouse of Horror XII Marge decides to purchase the Ultrahouse 3000, a futuristic house (Pierce Brosnan) with homicidal tendencies that controls every aspect of the family's lives. When the House falls in love with Marge, it attempts to kill Homer and take his place. I know this really doesn't involve much with Bond but Pierce was a guest star.

My favorite episode is definately "You Only Move Twice" I have it on tape. I liked when PB did his voice for the house helper thing that tried to kill Homer.

The Simpsons are so stupid now. That episode was only funny because they had Pierce Brosnan, but it's just not funny anymore because the writers are complete and utter lunatics who have nothing better to do.
