Spy Hunter: The Movie (2005) to be directed by John Woo

video games for the holiday season. There was a segment that featured the new game Spyhunter 2, during the evalutaion of the game the show's host announced that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson had signed to play the hero in the movie based on the Spyhunter games. If you remember the game it was a pre-007 video games
car/racing/actioner where you accomplished secret missions in a tricked out spy car to the strains of a hyped up version of Henry Mancini's Peter Gunn Theme. In ways the Spyhunter games were cooler than some of the driving levels we've had in the Bond games.
So anybody else here about this? Any details?

Spy Hunter Pre-Production Images
I like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and I hope that this movies turns at well for him and I hope that the movie is more entertaining than the disappointed [i]The Scorpion King.
I always thought that "The Rock" would also be interesting as a villain's super-strong hench man in a James Bond film. Eon Productions might have missed their chance, he might be too expensive now.

And yes, it is a shame about what happened with The Scorpion King - although, I did enjoy it, it was missing the flair that Stephen Sommers gave to his Mummy movies (and even the lesser-loved Deep Rising) that made them so enjoyable.

I assume it's based on the computer/playstation games of the same name?
The report states filming is due to start in March 2005.
I think we can strike Mr Woo off the list of possible directors for Bond 21.
( ....... and, The Rock off the list of Bond contenders, of course !!)
Scheduled for release in late 2005 or early 2006 it COULD (I know big ? mark there) give Bond 21 a run for it's money at the box office.

Wow. Because I thought the story was brilliant! Perfect for any spy genre.
But, of course, that's IMO.

I'm rather hoping that they do make a sequel to The Rundown - they mentioned a possiblity of a second one on the commentary with The Rock and director Peter Berg, and from the sounds of it, they had a lot of fun making the first one. Who knows?

I can't believe that. What is there to hate?
But Ebert gave it 3 out of 5, so that's all that matters to me. Other critics don't matter as much. Except Leonard Maltin. What did Maltin give M:I-2?
(P.S. I don't want to see any of these bad reviews! That will only make my day a really bad one, seeing as M:I-2 is my all time favourite movie. Call me crazy, if you will, but remember: that is IMO!)

I don't plan to go off topic with the bad reviews in any case, just letting you know not everyone was a fan. I found it to be fair to good.

Yeah, well that's reasonable. Not everyone is a fan of everything. As long as M:I-2 isn't the worst movie in the world, then I'm good!

I've heard many different reactions, but the one thing that remains the same in every review I've heard is that The Rock is great. And that alone makes it worth seeing for me.
I read that the DVD has a commentary with The Rock; looks like something for me to spring for once my bank accounts become a bit more plump...

I find it difficult to see how any film could be claimed by all to be the worst film in the world.

Face/Off always was an interesting movie for me. I never could decide if I liked it or not, now Travolta's performance makes it better.
