Lazenby had an uncredited role in this Maxwell Smart spy spoof with Don Adams. Does anyone who has seen the film know if the appearance was as James Bond? (Suave, tuxedo-clad, debonair ...)

Actually I believe you're thinking of the TV movie "Return of the Man from UNCLE" - George is in there and gives Solo a hand during a car chase. He's in a DB5 and white dinner jacket.

Cute cameo and a funny scene.

Hey, I have seen this film (a LONG time ago) but I don't remember this. I think my friend has it on VHS, I'll have to take another looks. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, hutch48...and welcome to CBn. :)

Ah, now THIS cameo I do remember. Great to see Laz in the white dinner jacket.

That's okay. It's enough to know you have a copy... If I need a fix, I know where to get it. :)

Great! Alexis isn't going to be joining us afterall, but I think between the Irish Kitty and the lovely Athena, we're going to have about as much girl-power as we can handle. :)

(psst...we better not let them go to the ladies room together.)

Duly noted. Also, I'm picking up my loan car that day while the Jag goes in for service. It's a 2002 XK8 - heh-heh-heh...

George apparently found it fascinating that while he was filming his role of ‘J.B.‘ in The Return of the Man from U.N.C.L.E., Roger was filming Octopussy and Sean was filming Never Say Never Again making it the only time that the first three 007s were essentially playing James Bond at the same time.

That's true Mr. Asterix - and an excellent bit of trivia - In 1982 the first Three Bonds were all in production portraying the role.

I recall Lazenby making some mention of it. Damn, wish I had thought to ask him about that when I met him at Spyfest. Alas, scotch, golf and women took up most of our conversation.

George is a fine chap.

Yes I remember that his Aston Martin DB5 driving character was simply named "JB" in the credits. I thought that was a real hoot :)

Actually, even more than that, remember AT THAT TIME Lazenby, Connery and Moore were the only actors to have played Bond on the big screen... :)

Hmmmm...does this mean if you simply call the character JB...you skirt the copyright?

I gotta remember that. :)

Yeah....well it was very clever the way they did it. The only time he was even identified as JB was on his car license plate which was simply "JB".
Of course the character was driving a very familiar Aston Martin and Napoleon Solo made a remark about being helped out of a jam by a fellow secret agent.

With all that in mind, 1983 truly was the year of James Bond.

ROGER MOORE - Octopussy
SEAN CONNERY - Never Say Never Again
GEORGE LAZENBY -The Return of the Man from UNCLE
