Magnum PI was one of my favorite shows. It was like Bond on TV once a week; there was romance, exotic scenery,a cool car and occasional paramilitary stuff he did (as he was an ex-SEAL/Vietnam vet). I watched it religiously...
I'm not sure how I feel about a big screen film version:

http://www.cinescape...38&obj_id=39741

Selleck was a very appealing character. I don't see this working with a 'new Magnum'. Also I think being a Veitnam vet was very crucial to his character so a 'reimagining' is just lame. And only Selleck looked cool with a mustache. When I think of guys with mustaches I can't help but think of cops or The Village People!

Magnum with Selleck is just wrong. There were rumors years ago that Tom Clancy was writing a screenplay for the movie version with Selleck on board, since Clancy is a huge Magnum fan. That must have made more sense, since Hollywood isn't going that route.

I was in love with that Ferrari....it was the first automobile that I ever fell in love with!

Okay, if they are going to make this movie, who would people pick to fill the roles?

Magnum:
Higgins:
Rick:

If anyone mentions Ben Affleck for any of the roles, they lose a testicle.

Magnum: Mel Gibson
Higgins: Jim Broadbent
Rick: Denis Leary

What about TC? If they get Mel for Magnum, will they get Danny Glover for TC? What about Ving Rhames or the big guy from Green Mile and Armageddon?

Hmmm.... this movie would become way too expensive, but here it is:

Magnum: George Clooney
Higgins: John Cleese or Sean Connery
Rick: John Travolta
T.C.: Samuel L. Jackson

TC: Could be Danny Glover, should be Samuel L Jackson, or even the guy who played the captain on Star Trek Voyager.

Didn't that guy also play Hawk in the t.v. show "Spenser For Hire"...

Hey, I am for any excuse to team Mel and Danny together again....but isn't danny getting a little old....If we are going to have them in that age range why not just go with the original crew??!!

I think it's only fair that they give the part to Harrison Ford...after all Tom Selleck lost Indy because of Magnum....I think they should trade.

Ballsy. Stupid...But ballsy.

I loved all the 80's tv action series. I guess I am out of touch with all this reality tv stuff. Studios are getting so cheap now, so they don't have to hire writers, or actors, with plots or car chases...

From http://www.cinescape...38&obj_id=39741:

"The MAGNUM movie, if it ever gets a greenlight, will probably be recast."

No! You mean they won't get Tom Selleck (now 58), John Hillerman(70), Roger E. Mosley (64) and Larry Manetti (56)?:)

My casting suggestions:

Magnum ... ROBERT DOWNEY JR.

Higgins ... STEPHEN FRY

TC ... LL COOL J

Rick ... KIEFER SUTHERLAND

You know what...if he stays clean, and loosens up, RDJ wouldn't be a bad choice. He is a natural chamelon and can play any role.

Magnum should be 33. That's how old he was on the pilot episode; the reason he was kinda childish was he always said "I woke up one morning 33 and I realized I never got to be 23". He was also 6' 4' tall. I don't like this whole concept at all. It was a great show. They should leave it at that.

Right......and Avery Brooks played the character of Hawk in the t.v. series "Spenser: For Hire"

That show starred Robert Urich and I used to watch it religiously in the 1980s.

As a fan this news fills me with deep dread. I get the feeling it's going to turn out like the 'I-Spy' fiasco. :)

It would be interesting to get Bryce's take on this. I recall him mentioning how he'd written a script for the Magnum reunion movie that was proposed a few years back.

Speaking of turning tv shows into movies, what about the movie version of Starsky and Hutch, with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson? It also has Snoop Dogg as Huggy Bear and it's from the director of Road Trip and Old School. I smell a bomb.

Hopefully, Magnum, P.I. will get a decent team behind it, starting with a good director.
