JW Pepper, a Louisiana Sheriff, appeared in 1973's Live and Let Die and 1974's The Man With The Golden Gun. Many of you hate him and think he is stupid. I think I am the only person on CBn who likes JW Pepper and who thinks he is funny in a stupid kind of way. Do any of you like him and if not, why do you hate him?

I think I might just have to start a Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to JW Pepper. LOL! Just kidding...:)

I thought it was interesting to hear the actor describe how he got the call to reprise his role in the "Inside The Man With The Golden Gun" DVD documentary.

I don't know - I liked him then and I still like him now. I like watching the LALD movie and knowing his scene would be coming up.

I also like that line "I got me a regular Ben-Hur - doing 95 minimum..."

I like Sheriff Pepper, I think he is neat! I've never hated him.

I always thought Jack Wade was a nineties version of him.

I liked him in Live And Let Die but his appearance in Golden Gun was just plain annoying.

I liked JW as well :) I thought he was different for a 007 movie but it worked! His wife was funny too..

Kinda funny Jackie Gleason gets allot of credit for his smokey & the bandet character .. when JW was first :)

It seems allot of movie maker's love to copy from 007

I really liked him as a 10 year old and 12 year old seeing LALD and MWTGG. In fact I was stunned when JW was not in TSWLM.

Now I think he was a great foreshadowing of the silliness to which the Moore Bonds would descend.

Nonetheless he was entertaining and I'm glad we didn't see him on vacation in Sardinia, although I would have laughed if he had turned up in DAD.

What is a redneck (and his wife) doing vacationing in Thailand?!?

Seriously, I enjoyed JW Pepper, even though his appearance is not conducive to a Bond spy thriller. Let's just say his comic relief is a respite from my serious Bond viewing...

The Vegas Sheriff in DAF is a prototype JW. Looks like they took the idea a step forward in LALD and gave him his own mini-movie within LALD itself.

He was a great character in LALD and really added a nice touch to some scenes, but in TMWTGG he's just not needed at all and doesn't even do anything. He's just there for comic relief.

Also, what are the odds of him and Bond meeting up like that?
