She seems willing to cut associations much quicker than her father. I think if Cubby had been in charge he'd not have let Brosnan go so soon. Cubby seemed really loyal to the cast and didn't seem to want to part with them if possible, which was why, I believe, Dalton gave Cubby an "out" by removing himself from consideration for GOLDENEYE so that Cubby wouldn't be forced to fire him or to have to fight the studio on the casting choice.
I think Cubby held on to talent longer than Barbara, and she seems much more willing to shake things up and to do it sooner rather than later. I doubt we'll see a director direct 5 Bond pictures in a row while Barbara is in charge. I doubt we'll seen an actor get long-in-the-tooth in the role like Connery and Moore did. I think Barbara's 6 film track record as producer has probably resulted in the longest sustained period of popularity and prosperity for the series. I thought the Brosnan films were popular and brought back Bond-mania, but the Craig series has become even more popular, even bringing it close enough to the height of the series popularity back in the mid-60's, which is something I never thought would be possible again. I think one really big question that I've yet to see an obvious answer for is this: After Barbara and Michael, who's next? Where's the line of succession? You always knew there was a transition team from Cubby to Michael/Barbara, but do they have a team in mind? Do they have children that want to take over the series? Or will they sell their rights and retire billionaires? ![]() -----------------------------------------------------

I'm not entirely sure, but the following is just speculation on my part.
This person, David G. Wilson, must have some association with Michael G. Wilson, considering that the only credits he really has are Bond films. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0933272/ Likewise, this other person, Gregg Wilson, might also have some association. I don't know. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1921196/ Could someone clarify this? Anybody know the next generation of the Broccoli family? |

"His basic rule was: Put the money on the screen".
So, Barbara, where's the money on the screen in QOS? I did not see it. |

No, alas it's no irony...
The action scenes in QOS are so badly edited that you can't see anything on screen... "His basic rule was: Put the money on the screen". So, Barbara, where's the money on the screen in QOS? I did not see it. Wait. That was irony, wasn´t it? Or do you think that all these scenes were not that expensive to film? |

"His basic rule was: Put the money on the screen". So, Barbara, where's the money on the screen in QOS? I did not see it. Then you saw another film. Or hoped you had. For example, do you have any idea how much an Aston costs to destroy? Then times that by fourteen. |

And other people saw an evolved style of editing a film reminiscent not of the style of Peter Hunt in the 1960's but reminiscent of the impetus to update an aspect like that. The Bond films - despite their millions to make - are still very economically produced. If you want Michael Bay or Roland Emmerich to helm the next film then join the queue marked "Death of the franchise here". |

The film was edited to within an inch of its life, in a way that most films do so nowadays, like the Bourne series and Batman Begins, but doing so without betraying the Bond style. There was a reason why this is the shortest film of the series.

That was also his draw back. Cubby stuck with old blood for too long which is one of the reasons why the series got so tired by the 80's. He held on to a fifty plus Roger Moore, Maibaum's stories were starting to get dull, and Maurice Binder's work was starting to slide in the titles. Also let's not forget John Glen directing five Bonds in a row. Cubby did the right thing by getting Dalton in '87 but he never took the series the direction he could accustom to his high caliber acting skills. ![]() McCain sucks and Obama blows. Barb is only 48 so I can't see her retiring anytime to soon but Mike getting on in years. ![]() McCain sucks and Obama blows. Vote at your own risk.
