I wonder if Dan will spring for these? I doubt it. Didn't he rip off the cover of CR so people didn't know he was reading the paper back. ![]() Sex for dinner. Scrambled eggs for breakfast.

I'm sure these are lovely and that Sir Fitzroy Maclean was a friend of Ian Fleming's who had a very exciting life, some of which might have involved espionage. But to say that anyone was one of the models for James Bond is putting them in an enormous pile. I think Bond was inspired by thousands of sources: Ian Fleming's own life, those of dozens of people he had known and worked with during the war, non-fiction books and magazine articles about espionage and related activities, thrillers he had enjoyed during his boyhood and later life... and many other sources besides. Something from Fitzroy Maclean's personality and/or experiences may well have been reimagined by Fleming, but the same could be said of a great many other people (and has been!).

Having access to "the little blue notebooks," I'd expect they'd have seen references to put such notions to rest (or validate them). ![]() Watches, James Bond Watches. I wonder if Dan will spring for these? I doubt it. Didn't he rip off the cover of CR so people didn't know he was reading the paper back. He did rip the cover off a copy he bought in a local bookshop so that he could read it on the tube without people knowing what he was reading, but then shortly after getting the role he apparantly bought a first edition CR novel at an auction to celebrate. ![]() They have a saying chicago "Once is happenstance.
