This thread is really just for those of you who, like me, want to avoid the spoilers, plot and script as much as possible between now and the release of Quantum of Solace, in November.
Is anyone doing this? Is anyone finding it hard to avoid the spoilers in the press and around this site? Although most seem to be confined to the Spoilers forum, it's hard to avoid at least the subject of some of the topics on there, as well as the front page news, and other media where news of the plot is being revealed. I managed to stay away from this site between the release of Casino Royale in Europe and the USA, and the release of the movie here in Australia - 3 weeks!! And that was torture! I can't leave this site between now and November but how else can we non-spoiler people avoid the news? Any tips?? Thanks.... ![]() ![]() --DaveBond21-- Ah, Mr Bond, perhaps you would like to make love to my mistress before I have you killed? Muhhahhh....ha ha ha ha....... |

If I may quote myself from the "Bond to wed again?" thread...
Could a Mod PLEASE retitle this thread? What is the point of having a separate spoilers area when threads with titles like this show up on the front page? Some of us are trying to remain spoiler-free - it would be appreciated if people could bear this in mind when titling threads in this forum. All that is needed is for people who are starting threads to bear in mind that their thread title may appear on the front page at some point and be read by those who are trying to remain spoiler-free. Just try to be sensible and sensitive, and don't post any threads with titles along the lines of "Darth Vader is Luke's Father!!" Please! Perhaps Mods could have a role in approving threads (and thread titles) before they are posted to the QoS area, to avoid this issue? ![]() ![]() |

** CASINO ROYALE SPOILER ALERT ** I remember in October 2006, not long before the release of Casino Royale, someone in a thread like the ABCs of James Bond or something like that, said that Vesper dies in CR!!!!! I couldn't believe someone would do that. The Bond girl dies???? What?? And why include such a massive spoiler in a game thread??? Idiots. Didn't quite spoil the movie but Vesper dying is a massive twist at the end of Casino Royale. ![]() ![]() --DaveBond21-- Ah, Mr Bond, perhaps you would like to make love to my mistress before I have you killed? Also, even though there is a separate spoiler forum, sometimes the rest of us can see enough of the title of a thread posted there to have some major plot point leaked. For example, if a thread said "M kidnapped by...." or "Green shoots Bond with a...." and that's all we can see, that's still enough to spoil.
I think that people even posting in the spoiler forum should title their threads to read "Spoilers regarding [actor's name]/ [character]" and keep it as simple as that. Then the rest of us can't see what it's about. Also, threads like "ALFA ROMEO in QOS?" in the main section should perhaps go in the spoiler section. I don't know what the topic of that thread is because I've purposely avoided reading it, but the title is enough to suggest that Bond or someone might drive an Alfa Romeo in the movie, even if it is phrased in the form of a question. I don't really want to know that. I don't want to have to avoid CBn until after November just because I don't want to have everything revealed beforehand. ![]() The new spy thriller by Peter Strongbear |

as well as the front page news... As a general note on the CBn main page: When posting news about spoiler items on Quantum of Solace, we will often use our "SPOILER" story icons and/or a spoiler warning in red text at the very beginning of an article. Could a Mod PLEASE retitle this thread? What is the point of having a separate spoilers area when threads with titles like this show up on the front page? Done. We can't manage every single thread the second it goes live by forum members, but thankfully this isn't an issue too often here. Just a little bit of discretion is needed when creating one's thread title. ![]() |

It is of course a up to those posting threads to use some discretion. Like DaveBond21 and others here, I just don't want to have to avoid CBn for the next 10 months, but I also don't want to have QoS spoilt for me accidentally by some careless thread title posted by someone in the spoilers area that appears on the main page, where I can't avoid it... ![]() ![]() |

Well, I thought it was recognized that stuff from the book CASINO ROYALE was fair game (we'd been discussing its contents openly on this board long before CASINO ROYALE all throughout), so I didn't think the users here were considering that a spoiler.
It would be the equivalent of EON claiming to make a faithful adaptation of Fleming's YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, and then somebody making a comment about Bond having amnesia. Well, Bond having amnesia in YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE has been mentioned in thousands of threads all over this forum... it doesn't quite make sense to put a spoiler lock on it. As far as spoilers in general are concerned, the nature of internet fandom these days means that nobody is really safe from avoiding spoilers. Things are going to leak into non-spoiler boards, if only by accident. The only way to be 100% spoiler-free is to avoid internet reports altogether and then just see QoS in November. Otherwise, even if the really spoileriffic reports are avoided, some spoilers are going to come through (though probably of a more insignificant variety). But really, is it such a big deal if you hear that somebody might drive an Alfa Romero before you actually see the film? ![]() |

Learning from the past: Caught up in the rush of CR's production phase, there was little that I missed. By the time the movie opened I'd seen some clips a hundred times and read two dozen spoilers.
This time around, I'll do my best to avoid any spoilers, plot discussions, clips. Am truly looking forward to a fresh-eyed viewing on my birthday. November 7. ![]() ![]() |

Maybe we ought to have another Log in Screen for the Quantum of Solace spoilers? and make them not be displayed on the main page/todays posts without logging in. That way members who arent logged in on can click new posts without having Quantum of Solace spoiled for them.

Here's some suggestions.
Suggestion one. Create a new subforum (child) in the Quantum of Solace section, and call it 'QoS Spoiler's' (or whatever). As a secoundary spoiler measure, would be to password protect the subforum so members would need to login to view them. Suggestion Two. Create a new usergroup for members, and give permissions to the usual forums but not QoSsecondary subforum. Any member who would like to remain spoiler free, they're moved to thatgroup. That way they wouldn't even be able to see the topic title of description. This way, an admin would only need to move over a few who want to stay away from spoilers. Hope this helps. Cheers, Ian ![]() |

I don't use the QOS spoiler subforum anyway, and I remain permanently logged in to the forum. I have the forum bookmarked rather than the main page, so I come directly to here. However, in the MAIN QOS forum section, people are still posting thread titles which could be considered spoilers. That's what I mainly have the issue with, although sometimes you can still see part of the thread title in the spoiler subforum as well.
As for the main section, I don't see why other members here can't just be a little more careful when posting the titles of their threads or posting spoiler info in other threads in the main section. ![]() The new spy thriller by Peter Strongbear |
