From CBn James Bond QuickNews...

Barbara Broccoli pays tribute to Sir Sean Connery

JAMES BOND producer BARBARA BROCCOLI hasn't forgotten SIR SEAN CONNERY - she has taken out a full page ad in today's edition of Hollywood trade paper Daily Variety to congratulate the original 007 on his latest honour.

Connery, who played superspy Bond in seven movies, was presented with the American Film Institute's (AFI) Lifetime Achievement in Hollywood last night.

And Broccoli didn't want the occasion to pass without celebrating the Scot.
In the ad, which featured Connery as 007, Broccoli wrote, "Sean, it all began with you. Congratulations on your well deserved Lifetime Achievement Award."

Reboot-theorists will have spinning heads from the phrase "it all began with you".

But then that will probably match their swivelly eyes.

Very nice gesture and a real class act! Perhaps she's trying to butter Sean up for a CR cameo?

As expected, that was a really classy move on Ms. Broccoli's part as opposed to all the horrid things that that classless thug Connery has said about her father over the years, especially when Cubby was not in the best of health ("Good!" is not an appropiate response for the family to hear to the news that thier husband and father has passed away).

Guess that's why he didnt show up to the wake. Ten bucks says Connery rips the ad out of the magazine and uses it to wipe his [censored].

Daniel Craig is a great 007

So true! (or he just wishes he had some style to think of an appropiate response!)

I love Connery as Bond, but as a human being he's a bastard. Moore is always the model of how one should act. The man is so gracious, giving interviews for the DVD's, doing the commentaries, being a true humanitarian. We should all strive to be like Moore.

Having had the oppurtunity to engage with all of the prior five, I totally agree with you about Roger.

Having been with him just recently in Canada, he is always the gentleman and always have time for a word for anyone. Nobody does it better.

Acting civil or, at least, near human would be nice, but I guess that is why he is in that profession.

However, he was a great 007 for six films!

Seven films! A great 007 for 007 films.

21 years of Connery's "Bond, James Bond."

I am sure that this has been debated here many times, but I cannot count Bob Holness, Barry Nelson, David Niven (and the others) as official 007's and, therefore, there are only six Jmaes Bond films that I can count Connery in.

Good to see that Babs seems to have buried the hatchet. It's about time, hasn't it been over two decades since Connery last sued EON?!

What you're saying is irrelevant - Sean Connery played James Bond in NSNA, his seventh Bond film. He played the same character for six other films. So in total, Connery played Bond seven times.

Its just the reality of the situation. To say he didn't play Bond in NSNA is to say the film is not a Bond film, which it is, of course...

For more clarification, ask Connery in how many has he played. He'll confirm it, I believe...

Well personally, while I consider NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN to be a Bond film - and a great one, perhaps the best. The jury is still out on wether THUNDERBALL and DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER are Bond films.

Amen. I'm so tired of people expecting celebrities to be nice and good role models and such. It's stupid. As long as they're not raping little kids and going on murder sprees I dont give a damn what they do on their own time so long as I get my money's worth when I step in that theatre or buy that CD or read that book.
