I really like Craig and I think he WILL play an amazing 007, but he COULD look much better. Personally I am not too bothered with his current look, but I think I would prefer, and many other fans would prefer, if he darkened his hair and also build up his neck and shoulders (mainly) at the gym. He has a great physique and is very toned, but still thin in some areas like the neck which stands out, but I really feel that if he built himself up a bit and darkened his hair with the right cut he would look really like a Fleming Bond and many more fans would relax and like him.

http://www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0325055/Ss/...%20Daniel%20(I)

Use your imagination from that photo and you'll see what I mean. Who agrees? Even if you (like me) would be alright with his hair and look as it is, would you PREFER the above "upgrade"?

I agree. If I were Craig, I'd color my hair. Then again, I don't think it'll make or break him.

Craig is 6 foot.

I have looked at pictures of him standing with Wilson and Broccoli and compared with Brosnans pictures with them and they are pretty much the same height, no more than an inch difference.

Plus I was watching Layer Cake (great film if you haven't seen it!) and he is a fraction taller than Colm Meaney who is 5'11.

Also all the actor listings say he is 6'0"

Just asked my uncle, who was lucky enough to see the press gig (only the bit's outside where Craig arrived on the RM rigid raider patrol) and he said he looked about 6 foot. My uncle is 5'11/6 and he can only guess but he said he can at least say Craig looked very good and not at all short amongst the Naval officers and stuff.

If you don't feel convinced go watch Layer Cake right? Compare with any actor and look up their height, the best is Michael Gambon near the end in the warehouse. There is a scene where the two stand shoulder to shoulder...you have a look yourselves.

Gambons height is listed as 6'2 but there is a site where they claim he is actually 6'0 (Craig and Gambon look the same height in LC) wink.gif

Because Daniel Craig turned up in sandals for the conference! Didn't the rest of you see? It's a new look for Bond. He's even going to wear sandals for the gunbarrel.

Also proof?

The photograph of Hanks with Craig we have no knowledge of, Hanks could well be standing on a raised bit of floor, a step or anything. The photograph of Gambon and Craig we KNOW they are both standing on level ground because it's from the film Layer Cake, and that's a really good scene tongue.gif

Oops here's another one, Irish actor Colm Meaney on Craigs right, Craig about an inch taller would you agree?...

http://www.celebheights.com/s/Colm-Meaney-160.html

That's 2, and we know that in both of those pictures both persons feet are on the same level etc.

Also go to http://mi6.co.uk find the casino Royale news page with the unedited video of the press launch and there is a picture of Craig with Babs and Wilson, anyone who has the book The Essential James Bond will see a photograph of Pierce with the two producers...compare

Watch Layer Cake and Craig doesn't look short.

Craig's look doesn't bother me.

I'm more worried about whether or not the CR script will give him the best chance of winning over his critics.

Ugh, who cares, besides if worst comes to worst he can wear lifting shoes or they can adjust by casting shorter supporting actors or by camera angles. But it hardly seems worth it, Matt Damon is only 5'10 and yet he manages to instill a hostile presence in the Bourne's. Point, it's irrelevant.

Indeed, it's not as important as Craig bashers make out, but I am just really tired of them scraping the net for the odd photo where he looks short. They prove nothing and Craig looks perfectly tall enough in films he has done before.

However could we get back to my original question please? Sorry I helped push it off topic.

I have met a number of people (not on sites) who like him but wish he would darken his hair. Maybe you are not too bothered like me, but I would still prefer it. You?

I would prefer him to darken his hair, although Craig seems hesitant. It's really not the difficult to just get it done and it's not permanant, so i can't see why not. As long as he get's his hair cut shorter I'm happy. If not, I don't mind smile.gif

Damon does a good job as Bourne, but by glancing over some pages of a library copy of the book (a few years ago)I never pictured Bourne looking like him either. As good as the Bourne films are I think Damon is miscast and a liability to them.

I remember Craig saying in an interview from the "Layer Cake" era that he would dye his hair if he got to be Bond, I wonder what changed his mind.

I mean he dyed it for the Paltrow movie, although I'd like to see it a little lighter than that.

Really? I have never seen that interview. Interesting.

Maybe he will, I mean in the press conference he didn't exactly say with any conviction "NO!" he just sort of shrugged, in a "not sure, probably not?" *looked to Campbell*.

After all the talk about it I would be quite surprised if he didn't to be honest. He looks really good with the darker hair slicked back. I think he should trip it a tiny bit more too maybe. But thats splitting hairs smile.gif)

Actually Matt Damon looked pretty un-threatening and non descript in TBI and TBS. It was when he sprung into action that I said "Holy----!" Bourne was supposed to be an every man.

I don't think that Craig should darken his hair. He's too fair skinned. Leave it as it. It makes him look like an Aryan storm trooper. Besides I think no matter what changes he makes, he will never look like James Bond. Never.

I remember when Michael Keaton was cast as Bruce Wayne/Batman, and I said to myself no way. But with the euphoria of the movie my mind changed and I thought he was okay. But with the passage of time (a year later actually) I said 'no way'. He's completely wrong when he was cast. And he's completely wrong now. Bruce Wayne was supposed to be 6'2 210lbs and Keaton is the complete opposite he looked like a dweeb.

I have the same reaction to Craig as James Bond. He will never be Bond in my eyes.

Uh... no I don't. Roger Moore was a very successful Bond with the fans, so his hair colour doesn't seem to have been a factor in pleasing them!

Moore's hair was darker than Craigs, it was brown not blonde.

Craig has pretty tanned skin in Layer Cake, he also has dark hair in some movies and he looks great. If you imagine this cut better slicked back a bit he'd look very much like 007.

http://www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0325055/Ss/...%20Daniel%20(I)

He'll be bulking up in the gym no-doubt too. But if you watch LC he looks good in a suit anyway, slim and athletic. He is very muscular yet thin, like 007 in the books.

I'm still a little worried about his height though. Haven seen Tomb Raider again recently I noticed Angelina Jolie was almost as big as him. And she was wearing combat boots, not high heels.

In his picture with Brosnan, he seems to be leaning back as if he was standing on his tip-toes. Even if he isn't, he is still considerabely smaller than Brosnan.

That's about 4 inches difference minimum and combat boots (I have a pair here) have just over an inch and a half heel. Jolie is 5'7" and plus 5 inches (leaving a half inch for Craigs shoes) gives 6 foot....
